Server Software are mainly script files written in PERL and CGI. The majority of them are designed to run unattended or on an 'As Needed' basis. If you have ever signed up for a mailing list you have used a script. Most people feel that installing scripts are too difficult for the, but it's really not too tough. There are normally just a few lines of configuration to match your server, upload, set file permissions and you are normally ready to go!
The types of scripts is as varied as PC Software, but instead of 4 or 5 for each type, there are literally 50 to 100 versions. The right one is critical.
The first thing you need to do is to identify what you will want your site to do. Are you going to want it to send out timed emails to subscribers? Rotate banner advertising? Update a message board on you site? And this is not even starting to scratch the surface of what is available. As you can see, server scripts probably exist for about anything you can imagine. and if they don't exist, there will be someone who can create it.
Once you decide what you want your site to do, it's time to find the scripts.
We have a fairly extensive script library for use on our customer sites. The good new is that we have tried almost every version and have the ones that are dependable and work as advertised. Additionally, a large number of web hosts now have quite a few scripts pre-installed so all you have to do is make a page that works with the script. Some knowledge in HTML and CGI/PERL is normally required, and if it's too much for you, let us know we would love to help you..
In closing we would like to say that design experience can make your site a success or failure. Not everytime, but most sites will be lacking a script that could really make it sing and close the sales you need. Contact us, we have the experience you need. |

Do you need scripts? |
| |
Do you have a website, or are planning on having one? If you answered 'Yes', then you will probably need scripts, here's why:
1. A script can allow visitors to signup for your mailing list.
2. The mailing list script can be configured to send out email at pre-determined intervals with the intent of converting the visitor to a customer!
This alone should be enough, however there are literally 100's of other uses so your best bet is to have at least a 'few' scripts to make your site work for you.
